MARTIN GOSS OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES GENERAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN
MARTIN GOSS has officially launched his campaign to be MP for Colchester, vowing to champion the city’s cause in parliament.
The Lib Dem candidate, 50, who has lived in Colchester since he was four years old, told party volunteers and campaigners on Sunday that the real hard work starts now with just under three weeks to go to the General Election on Thursday, July 4th.
Martin (pictured with some of his campaign team) is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Liberal Democrat stalwart Sir Bob Russell, who served as the city’s MP from 1997-2015. And he is being encouraged by support on the doorsteps around the constituency.
He said: “I would work tirelessly to represent Colchester and it would be the ultimate honour if I was elected to serve the people here.
“It appears the public we have spoken to like many of the policies in our manifesto. We also had wonderful feedback from a husting at the Sixth Form College last week, when we came out top in the students’ voting.
“The hard work of campaigning really starts now, to try and get the Liberal Democrats’ message across that we are promising a fair deal for people and the community.
“We also want a fair deal where everyone can get high-quality healthcare and see an NHS dentist when they need it.
“The Lib Dems would see that every child can go to a good school and have real opportunities to fulfil their potential and a fair deal where everyone can have a decent home somewhere safe and clean – with a comfortable retirement when the time comes.
“The scandal of sewage spillage polluting our waterways needs addressing NOW and we would take the water companies to task and introduce a new regulatory body to replace Ofwat, which has been ineffective.”
